Victim's Database

The Victims’ Database is a collection of the biographical information of victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The Aegis Trust achive and documentation department is currently exploring the technical requirements and are progressing to developing the Database.

Aegis Trust collaborates with survivors' organisations through IBUKA (the umbrella of survivors organisations), which has been compiling victims’ information since the creation of the Wall of Names situated at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in 2004.

Those who wish to submit a victim’s name are asked to contact IBUKA to submit photographs and information on the victim(s), or you may contact us for more information.

“The Victims’ Database was an idea that kept evolving. The main thing we want for the Victims’ Database is to preserve their memory. Every victim of the genocide has a name. They are not just numbers.” Yvette Umutoniwase, Genocide Archive of Rwanda Research Assistant.
